Become a part of the Weisman Art Mob, the museum’s collectors’ group. WAM members at the Collector level or above who are interested in building an art collection are invited to learn about collecting works of art in a fun and educational setting, connect with the local arts community, and engage more deeply in the mission and programs of the Weisman Art Museum.
Art Mob events are open only to WAM members at the Art Mob level and above. Art Mob members receive advance e-mail invitations to each event, and advance reservations are required. Check this site for emerging details on events. Scheduled events this year include:
Architect Geoff Warner, July 16, 2009. Architect Geoff Warner leads a tour of his Saint Paul home, known as “The Goodrich House.” The event includes a tour of Warner’s award-winning backyard garden designed by Phillips Garden in Minneapolis. Warner is a partner at Alchemy Architects, designers of the Wee House.
Walking Public Art Tour, September 2009. Tour the University of Minnesota’s public art collection with curator Craig Amundsen and art conservator Kristin Cheronis. The tour includes popular public art works on campus along with information about how the works are conserved.
Local Art Critics, November 2009. Hear about trends in arts criticism from local art critics. The event takes place in the fabulous lobby of Fallon Worldwide.
Studio Tour with Artist Cy De Cosse, January 2010. Acclaimed artist Cy DeCosse opens up his Minneapolis studio for Art Mob members to explore his work and to see an example of his innovative approach to photography.
Studio Tour with Artist Andrea Stanislav, March 2010. University of Minnesota art professor Andrea Stanislav gives a tour of her studio. Stanislav is an accomplished artist who has received numerous awards including a Jerome Fellowship and a McKnight Fellowship. Read more at andreastanislav.com. Chambers Gallery and Hotel Tour, spring 2010 (date TBA). A tour of the Chambers Hotel art gallery and collection. Soo Visual Arts Center, summer 2010. Soo Visual Arts Center director Suzy Greenberg gives a tour of the gallery's seventh annual Untitled show and explains the gallery's history.
